Our Story

Diriá is the first coffee authentically produced in a Blue Zone. Since 1962, the Coopepilangosta cooperative has cultivated specialty coffee in the highlands of Hojancha, Nicoya and Santa Cruz on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, one of the few places in the world known for the extraordinary longevity of its people. Our 100% Arabica beans of the Costa Rica 95 variety grow between 700 and 1,000 m altitude under sustainable agroforestry systems. Diriá is the result of decades of dedication to environmental and social progress in Costa Rica, and today you can find it at Auto Mercado and Duty Free in Costa Rica.

Our Approach

Our 'Gourmet' washed process highlights the best of the Costa Rica 95 variety, grown between 700 and 1,000 m under sustainable agroforestry systems that benefit from the unique ecosystem of the Blue Zone. The result is a specialty-grade cup with a smooth body, bright acidity and notes of chocolate, citrus, vanilla, caramel and sugar cane.

Our Commitment

Diriá is produced by Coopepilangosta, a cooperative of coffee growers from Hojancha, Nicoya and Santa Cruz. For more than six decades we have worked for the environmental and social progress of our communities, supporting local families and protecting the forests and ecosystems of the Nicoya Peninsula.
